8. The Ashes

Lady Olenna Tyrell often provides sage advice, but her words to Daenerys are a little worrying. Basically telling her to ignore the counsel from Tyrion and Varys, she insists that Daenerys must make people fear her, and "be a dragon". You can see the appeal, but Dany should think twice before heeding it: while she refers to herself as the Mother of Dragons, her brother Viserys did call himself 'the Dragon', which, er, didn't exactly end well for him.

Olenna's words also mirrored those spoken by her sworn enemy, Cersei, who in Season 2 told Sansa:

"The only way to keep the small folk loyal is to make certain they fear you more than they do the enemy. Remember that if you ever hope to become a queen."

The advice from Tyrion about not being "Queen of the Ashes" is also a familiar line, and one Olenna has ignored previously. Varys previously warned the Queen of Thorns about Littlefinger, stating: "He would see this country burn if he could be King of the Ashes." Olenna, of course, then went on to conspire with Petyr Baelish anyway to kill Joffrey.

She's obviously willing to do whatever is necessary for her family, which is now fuelled by revenge for them, but that's not exactly good counsel for Dany.
