Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Things You Might've Missed In 'Stormborn'

9. Quite A Man

Game of Thrones Daenerys
HBO

Daenerys Targaryen finally learns of the existence of one Jon Snow in Stormborn, and is quietly impressed - if not enough to stop her from insisting that he will bend the knee (something Tyrion (perhaps crucially) left out of his letter to the King in the North. Dany's response to Melisandre outlining Jon's achievements, including uniting the wildlings and Northerners, is "he sounds like quite a man."

That harks back to something Samwell Tarly said in Season 5 about Daenerys herself. Maester Aemon describes how she won't leave Slaver's Bay until freedom has been secured, to which Sam replies: "She sounds like quite a woman."

It's not the first time the show has used callbacks to paint a clear parallel between the two - such as Jon rising up from the crush in Battle of the Bastards echoing Dany being raised up in Mhysa - but it comes at a very pertinent time, given they're just about to meet.
