Game Of Thrones Season 7: 9 Things You Might've Missed In 'Stormborn'

2. Silence

A disturbing moment, but one that does help cement Euron Greyjoy as a truly vicious, fearsome villain. During his attack on Theon and Yara, we do briefly see one of his crew members cutting the tongue out of the mouth of one of the opposing men.

It's a gruesome scene, and recalls both a brief line on the show, and details about Euron from the books. When we first met him, in Season 6's Home, it was revealed that he had his crew's tongues ripped out because he "needed silence."

In the books, it's believed that he does this to prevent the crew from spilling any of his secrets, with a lot of doubts about Euron having actually done a lot of the things he claims, along with preventing mutiny (cutting out tongues may not make you liked, but it also makes it harder to organise a plot to overthrow you, and means you're feared too). It's also possible that the crew member we see confront Ellaria and Tyene is Cragorn, a member of the Silence from the books who dies after blowing dragonbinder, which is why he only shakes his head:
