2. The Chains

In the immediate aftermath of the episode, one of the biggest questions that spread throughout the fan community like wildfire was that targeting the logic of the white army having JUST the right equipment to deal with a downed dragon. In particular, them having massive chains that could be used to drag Viserion's corpse out of the icy depths.

There is no way those chains were simply lying around in the wilderness North of Eastwatch, and there's no way the Night King commanded his forces to bring them along just in case.

In reality, the chains probably came from Hardhome, which was a shipping town and which would have probably had them lying around. That place was probably attacked specifically to take control of those chains (as much as restocking the wights with Wildlings) as the Night King knew he'd need them to pull the dragon out to revive it. He was playing 4D chess.
