Game Of Thrones Season 7 Implications: What "Stormborn" Really Means

2. Yara, Tyene And Ellaria Are Taken By Euron

Game of Thrones Season 7 Trailer Theon Yara Greyjoy
HBO

In the last episode, Euron Greyjoy promised Cersei a gift that would prove he is serious about allying with her (and marrying her to cement power) and the climax of Stormborn revealed what that gift will be.

After personally killing two of the Sand Snakes (did anyone REALLY care?), Euron took his niece Yara captive, seemingly as a bonus to his real target - Ellaria Sand (with Tyene bundled in with her). What Cersei wants with Yara remains to be seen - though it shows Euron's commitment to the Lannisters over his own blood - but Ellaria is a far more valuable gift, since she killed Myrcella.

It seems likely that the next episode will see the end of the Sands - and the value of the Dornish army to Dany with them - with Cersei executing them both, probably along with Yara to deal another blow to Dany. Given that the synopsis for the next episode mentions her returning a gift, you have to suspect that she'll be sending their heads to Dragonstone to herald their victory.

And what does this mean for Theon, who suffered a major Ramsay flash-back when confronted by Euron and jumped into the sea rather than standing up for his sister? There's no way the Greyjoy army will accept that sort of cowardly betrayal (assuming any of them are even alive after Euron's devastating attack). He's in for just as tough a time.
