Game Of Thrones Season 7 Implications: What "Stormborn" Really Means

1. Dany's Plans Are In Tatters

Though she was warned about the dangers of listening to Tyrion Lannister by Olenna Tyrell and both Ellaria Sand and Yara Greyjoy insisted on a more direct approach to invasion, Dany ultimately chose to follow the Imp's directions for the conquest of Westeros.

He urged a more subtle approach, using the Dornish and Tyrell armies to lay seige to King's Landing to strangle the city, while the Unsullied struck a killer blow at Casterly Rock to hurt the Lannisters. He didn't mention the Dothraki other than suggesting having them rampaging through Westeros would play into Cersei's hands as propaganda.

It was the right decision right up until the moment Euron Greyjoy smashed the plans to pieces by destroying the Greyjoy faction and taking the Sands out of the game before they could even get home to collect their army. Now Dany only has the Tyrells to lay siege to King's Landing, which is not enough, and she's going to have to go with the plan to "be a dragon" that Olenna privately advised, and which will likely turn the people of King's Landing further against her.

It was said that Dany needed some losses to level the playing field, but having her entire plan destroyed in episode two was still pretty surprising. She'll definitely still persist with the attack on Casterly Rock, as we've seen it in the trailers, but she's going to have to rethink the rest or lose again.
