Game Of Thrones Season 7 Premiere: 9 Ups And 3 Downs From 'Dragonstone'

There's been a lot of speculation about how Jaime would react to Cersei taking the Iron Throne. He looked none-too-pleased when he arrived back in King's Landing in Season 6 to see she'd done what he killed Aerys to prevent, but he stands by her side all the same here.

It's a great showcase for both characters and, after spending a lot of time apart, good to have the incestuous Lannisters back together again. The conflict between loving his sister and wanting to do what's 'right' is all over Jaime's pained expression, while Lena Headey once again continues to be delightfully wicked as Cersei.

It gets even better once Cersei unveils her big plan to level the playing field against Daenerys. Euron Greyjoy arrives in King's Landing (as expected, and as the trailers gave away), and it's a marked change from the one we met last year. Aside from the appearance changes (shorter hair and more eyeliner), he has far more swaggering charisma to him now, which shines through as he meets Cersei and Jaime.

Even while we pretty much knew these two were coming together, the way it plays out is incredibly entertaining to watch, with some unpredictability due to the fact that Cersei initially turns him down (but that will surely change upon receiving his gift). At this early stage, Euron is the most improved player, feeling completely unhinged but (somehow) charmingly so. I mean, he's destined to die, but it's gonna be fun while it lasts.
