10. Viserion

Viserion already caused some controversy on his way to becoming an ice dragon in Season 7, but that might all be forgiven if he provides some dramatic moments in Season 8.

The controversy stems from poor writing more than it does Viserion’s actual existence; an ice dragon in a show where dragons exist and the fallen are regularly brought back as ice zombies is a reasonable leap for most people to take. However, how exactly the wights (who canonically cannot swim) were able to retrieve him from under the ice, not to mention where they got the chains from, has irked the fanbase somewhat.

It’s still a detail likely to rankle on rewatches, but pushing forward into Season 8, all will be forgiven. The Night King is powerful enough already without a dragon, but everyone is going bigger for the final season. Likely candidates to put down Viserion are his two brothers, with some even suggesting Jon could fly the other, once he knows he’s a Targaryen.

Of course, Cersei and Qyburn have a powerful, dragon stopping crossbow at their disposal. The Night King would have to get a long way South before it could be used, though.
