Game Of Thrones Season 8: 10 Things Fans HATED
6. The Battle Of Ice & Fire Being Badly Lit
A somewhat minor point being this episode can be fixed for upcoming blu-ray and streaming editions, but at the time? The hyped-up Battle of Ice & Fire/Battle of Winterfell was a bit of a mess.
Saying nothing of illogical elements like the Dothraki charging into darkness, plot-armoured characters surviving being swarmed by wights or the bizarrely empty planning of "Using Bran as bait to do... something", the whole episode was terribly lit from a production standpoint.
Even stranger, was the admission on behalf of the episode's crew that all of this obscurity was intentional, as it led to a more "naturalistic" approach.
Like... yes, things are dark during the night, but there's also the fact that we're collectively watching a TV show, with scenes that need to be, well, seen.
Plus, this episode's battle was a 55 night shoot, and a labour of love to realise. The fact we couldn't enjoy all that blood, sweat and tears was ultimately a missed opportunity.
