Game Of Thrones Season 8: 12 Details You Might've Missed In 'The Last Of The Starks'

7. A Rich Man, A Priest, And A King

Bronn Jaime Tyrion
HBO

Varys comes back to the fore this week, after a long time spent doing very little, so it's quite fitting that one of his most famous quotes is paid homage as well. In Season 2, he asks Tyrion a riddle:

"In a room sit three great men: a king, a priest, and a rich man. Between them stands a common sellsword. Each great man bids the sellsword slay the other two. So who lives, and who dies?”

Tyrion attempts to repeat the answer here, getting cut off while halfway through "power resides where men believe it resides," but it's also notable that this scene is about as close as we're likely to come to seeing the riddle play out.
