Game Of Thrones Season 8: 12 Things You Might've Missed In 'A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms'
8. A Knight of The Seven Kingdoms
The episode is called A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, which most obviously refers to Brienne of Tarth being anointed as such, in one of the series' most beautiful and moving scenes.
It's also important to note that it refers to Jaime too, given his status as an anointed Knight is what allowed him to make Brienne one. It's a crucial reminder of Jaime's arc, and just who he is: think back to that moment with Joffrey where they look through the Kingsguard book, and there's almost nothing written about Jaime Lannister. The journey he is on now is the story of this Knight of the Seven Kingdoms that will be written and passed down.
It also has a couple of nods to the works of George R.R. Martin. In A Storm of Swords, Jaime thinks to himself about Brienne: "In this light she could almost be a beauty... In this light she could almost be a knight." A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms, meanwhile, is the compendium of tales about Dunk and Egg. An added layer to that is Dunk - Ser Duncan the Tall - is Brienne's ancestor, and one of the most noble Knights the Seven Kingdoms has seen, just like her. Duncan the Tall is also who Prince Duncan was named after, further connecting things in this episode.
