Game Of Thrones Season 8: 12 Things You Might've Missed In 'A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms'

7. Kissed By Fire

This week's episode was penned by longtime writer Bryan Cogman, who has generally been regarded as the one who, among the writing and producing staff, knows the lore of A Song of Ice and Fire best. He's written some bad episodes, such as Unbowed, Unbent, and Unbroken, but also some brilliant ones, like Season 3's Kissed By Fire.

It's to that episode this feels like something of a companion piece. The most obvious is the focus on Jaime and Brienne (often a pairing Cogman has focused on). That episode really brought them quite close together, and it ended with Jaime passing as he said "Jaime. My name is Jaime." That's then nicely mirrored here, as Jaime says "Arise, Ser Brienne of Tarth."

The episode also featured an important scene between the Hound and Beric where the Lord of Light was heavily mentioned (Beric died and came back), which is echoed here; there's Jon making a huge decision about the woman he loves in a dark place; war strategy; and a touching scene between Shireen and Davos, like that with him and the little girl this week.
