Game Of Thrones Season 8: 7 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Last Of The Starks'

7. Finally A Hound & Sansa Scene

Game of Thrones Season 8 has been full of reunions: the first episode was basically a reunion special, as various characters converged at Winterfell and saw each other for the first time in years, and it's continued throughout the subsequent episodes.

Two characters both at Winterfell from that first episode, and yet not brought back together, were Sandor Clegane and Sansa Stark, and it seemed like they might not get a moment together. But thankfully, The Last of the Starks finally delivers. Sansa and the Hound had one of the most interesting dynamics in the first couple of seasons, and it's excellent to call back to that, while the Hound also recognises how much the "little bird" has changed. There is admittedly some clunky writing with regards to Sansa discussing what's happened to her - especially given how controversial the rape scene in Season 5 was - which highlights the absence of women from the writers room, but the intent, with regards to Sansa highlighting that the ‘little bird’ wouldn’t have survived what she has, works, and it fits with these two characters.

That also then feeds into another great Hound and Stark girl moment, as he and Arya set off for King's Landing together. Given that those two travelling around was a serious highlight of the show's best season, having some more of that, with how much Arya has changed, is definitely welcome. It's just a shame there are only two episodes left, and the next time we see them will probably be at King’s Landing.
