The Great War is over. The Long Night has been and gone, and for the most part Winterfell is somehow still intact. The Night King has been defeated, and now it's time to turn attention from the North back down to the South.

That leads to us The Last War, which is the war for the Iron Throne that dominated so much of the earlier seasons of the show. That takes us from the Night King to the seemingly Mad Queen, with Cersei Lannister returning to the show after an absence of two episodes, and having not done a great deal in the premiere either.

With the threat of the White Walkers now dealt with, these final three episodes are all about The Great Endgame, and it's time to make that 180 pivot and start setting that up, which begins with episode 4, The Last of the Starks.

To effectively split the truncated season in two - with three episodes on the Army of the Dead, three episodes on Jon/Daenerys/Cersei - is a risky strategy, and we won't fully know how well they've pulled it off until the end. The Last of the Starks, at least, makes a (mostly) good start.

Warning: Contains full spoilers for Game of Thrones Season 8 Episode 4, The Last of the Starks.
