Game Of Thrones Season 8 Breakdown: What 'The Last Of The Starks' REALLY Means
2. Missandei Is No More
Talk about ripping your heart out.
There will inevitably be questions about how Euron managed to steal Missandei from the sea (though we should be asking how the hell he hid, seriously), but it did give Cersei her opportunity to prove that she IS more of a monster than the Night King. She did that by tormenting Dany with the sight of her best friend and closest confidante chained and vulnerable.
And then in an echo of Joffrey's murder of Ned Stark, just when it seemed like Tyrion's appeal to her humanity might be landing, the Queen coldly told Missandei to say her last words before having The Mountain chop her head off. Watching Dany's reaction (more of which soon) was bad enough, but to see Grey Worm watch his beloved (and his dreams of an ideal future) fall to the floor dead was heart-breaking in an entirely different way.
This really wasn't a good episode for romance (Sam and Gilly aside, of course).
