Game Of Thrones Season 8 Breakdown: What 'The Long Night' REALLY Means
3. There HAS To Be A Sting In This Tale
It surely cannot be as simple as this? We can't have three episodes of Dany and Jon versus Cersei now, can we?
Yes, there's lots of character work to be done and lots of conflict to resolve one way or another (more of which soon), but it feels like more than three hours of episode run-time is too much for just that.
Could it be that we should be expecting some major story deviation before the conclusion? There's certainly room in the story for something to happen, that's for sure, and you should never put it past Thrones' show-runners to throw in a curveball and further mess with expectations this late in the game.
Quite what it might be is anyone's guess (and this episode proved that trying to predict everything is likely to make you look like Melisandre getting absolutely everything wrong too), but it's exciting to think of the possibilities.
