Game Of Thrones Season 8: Every Death Ranked Worst To Best

9. Jaime

Jaime Game Of Thrones

While lots of fans seem to be annoyed with the way Jaime's arc ended (with him abandoning Brienne and returning to Cersei), it was written in the stars from the moment he pushed Bran out of the window and declared there was basically nothing he wouldn't do for his beloved sister.

And while his demise alongside Cersei might look like a disappointing end, their reunion gave Cersei much-needed humanity and there's no denying that the tragedy of their romance wasn't incredibly affecting. Ultimately, he convinces her to escape with him to a new life but the pair die in each other's arms.

It's not the underwhelming moment some have suggested and the sight of Jaime holding Cersei even in death is deeply powerful. It's also a moment given even more poignancy when Brienne forgives Jaime and writes him a new history in the final episode. He had shown her his vulnerability (his hatred at the "kingslayer" label he was branded with) and her eulogy of him (ending simply "died protecting his Queen") was a beautiful touch.
