Game Of Thrones Season 8 Finale: 10 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Iron Throne'

2. Some Characters Are (Inevitably) A Little Short-Changed

This finale had so much to wrap up, and do so for so many characters, that it was always going to be difficult to balance absolutely everything.

That means certain characters do end up being a little more short-changed than others: Davos, while humorous, gets very little to do; Gendry, for all he's the new Lord of Storm's End, returns to say a single word (but does get some dapper new threads); the Dothraki disappear; the new Prince of Dorne doesn't get a name; Robin Arryn is... there; there's someone who may or may not be Howland Reed, but if it is, the show isn't telling us here.

It would've been nice to have even more time with the likes of Bran and Sansa, especially after they missed the last episode, just to get some insight into their thoughts on going south (especially given how Sansa knows Starks don't fare well down there), and it also would've been nice to see more of a discussion around Jon's actions, or more insight into Dany's headspace too. But then again that plays into there not being enough episodes more than it does become a problem with this one.

It's a minor annoyance though, and ultimately it's fine, really. The big stuff and major character arcs are well executed, and the show was never going to find time for everyone.
