Game Of Thrones Season 8 Finale: 10 Ups And 3 Downs From 'The Iron Throne'

1. A Few Things Happen A Little Too Fast

One of the big problems with Seasons 7 and 8 has been the pacing, with the shortened episode run meaning certain things have happened too quickly, and the finale is no exception to that.

Daenerys' death scene is great, but it would've been nice to have just another scene with Daenerys and get inside her head a little more before it happens. Likewise, it would've been great to see Jon having a little more agency in his fate-deciding actions - indeed, him actively rejecting the crown and choosing to go back beyond the Wall might've made his endpoint even more powerful, although his murder of Daenerys did make it trickier.

After her death, things start to get faster: the Unsullied go from holding the city to being offered the Reach to deciding to leave Westeros for good in the blink of an eye; the Great Council deliberations could've been a tad longer, given how monumental a decision it is. They don't break the episode - not even close - but they are a final representation of some of the frustrations with the last couple of seasons.
