Game of Thrones is no stranger to roping in a familiar face here and there as extras: there've been numerous musical guests, and a couple of other notable cameos over the years, like Thomas Turgoose appearing alongside Ed Sheeran last year.

In 'Winterfell', we get a couple of well-known TV actors among the Ironborn. During Theon's rescue of Yara, the first two members of Euron's crew are played by It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia's Rob McElhenney and Silicon Valley's Martin Starr. Silicon Valley is, of course, another HBO series, while the showrunners have a connection to It's Always Sunny, having written an episode back in 2013, and making cameo appearances on the sitcom in 2017's The Gang Goes To A Waterpark.

Alongside those two, another one of the first Ironborn to fall is Dave Hill, who takes an axe to the head - a callback to Yara attempting to rescue Theon - with Hill being the one who wrote this episode.
