Game Of Thrones Season 8: Ranking Every Character Worst To Best

Sam had a very mixed season, not least because he started it so strongly: John Bradley was the MVP of the season opener, Winterfell, bringing acting chops that we'd not really seen from him before to two huge scenes with Daenerys and then Jon.

After that, though, he appeared in dribs and drabs: he was useless in the Battle of Winterfell, went off for a bit, and then appeared again at the end to be laughed at for having the gall to propose actual democracy, before settling into his position as Grand Maester. Like with many of these, there's a nice ending (if some questions about how it all works, given the Citadel's previous rules), and a mix of moments along the way there.
