Game Of Thrones Season 8: Ranking Every Character Worst To Best

1. Arya Stark

Arya Episode 5
HBO

In the end, Season 8 really felt like a victory for House Stark, and of the family it was Arya who had the best season. For so long her story has been about shedding her identity and a thirst for vengeance, and it really brings those two threads to a satisfying conclusion here.

She reunited with Jon, the family member she was always closest to, in a sweet scene in the season opener, but also addresses her loyalties to their house. The Gendry romance was a little rushed, but it was so nice to have her reclaiming some of the humanity she'd lost in becoming No One, and she was the absolute star of The Long Night. Not just for killing the Night King, but also for that horror-esque sequence in the library, and how her relationships with Beric and the Hound served the story too.

It was a similar case in The Bells, where she served as our eyes on the ground to witness the full horrors of war in a stunning sequence, had a touching scene with the Hound to reconcile her thirst for vengeance, and then got a fitting farewell where she could retain her Stark identity, but still go off on her own path.
