Game Of Thrones Season 8: Ranking Every Character Worst To Best

In some ways, Season 8 may live or die depending upon how you feel about Daenerys' arc, with the story taking her from being the hero to the villain across the six episodes.

It's a huge development, and while it would have been nice to have a couple of extra scenes that really took us inside Dany's head, the transformation still works: it's been building for a long time, and the moment she does finally, fully go is a stunning sequence of fiery fury.

Before we get to that point, though, there's a lot for Dany to work with this year, from the truth about Jon's parentage to losing all of those closest to her and becoming increasingly isolated in Westeros. It makes for a tragic downfall, culminating in those final moments with Jon Snow in the Throne Room, and best of all is Emilia Clarke. She's never been the strongest actor on the show, but she completely steals this season, and is the biggest reason Dany's arc works so well this year.
