Game Of Thrones Season 8 - 'The Long Night': Every Death Ranked
6. Melisandre
How She Died
Melisandre's reputation as a great prophesier has been in the gutter for some time now, as there are very few things that she was banking on that actually turned out to be truly prophetic. But at least she got a few good moments in the final battle as well as finally getting one big thing correct: the time of her death.
Admittedly, she did help that come true by basically taking her own life, but it's still a rare win for her.
In the end, when the battle was over, Melisandre simply walked out into the frozen plains in front of Winterfell, removed her enchanted necklace and died in her ancient, decrepit form as Ser Davos watched on.
What It Means
As with Beric's death, Melisandre's death mostly seems to confirm that the "chosen one" has arrived. It's not really cause for celebration for Melisandre though as she'd marked herself for death long before now and pretty much all of her expectations and aspirations of the Prince That Was Promised went up in smoke.
And at least she didn't have to be executed by Ser Davos, as much as she deserved it.
