7. Beric Dondarrian

How He Died

In a fitting moment of under-appreciated badassery, Beric Dondarrian came to the rescue of Arya. With the wights beginning to overrun Winterfell, she was overcome by the icy villains only for him to throw his sword and then make sure she got to safety.

In the process he was first injured and then gruesomely killed by multiple stab wounds by the wights. He still lived up to his reputation though, shrugging off injuries that would have killed most others to stagger to relative safety with Arya and The Hound before dying on his own terms.

What It Means

Well, there's a pretty big suggestion in Beric's death that Arya Stark was always the Prince That Was Promised according to Melisandre's prophecy. After all, she gives Arya a loaded look suggesting that Beric was only able to die because his duty to the Lord Of Light had been fulfilled, and given that it came right after he saved Arya's life, that seems pretty telling.
