Game Of Thrones Season 8: WILL The Dead Starks Rise From Winterfell Crypt?

Maybe it's all just a work? Maybe we're all just pathetic rubes walking into the writers' traps? Maybe what's actually going to happen is they're going to feed us all of this lovely evidence and foreshadowing and then they're going to do what they've done for the past few seasons and mess with expectations.

Sure, it WOULD be amazing to see the Starks rise from the dead to protect the living, but that might be why it's impossible. There's perhaps TOO MUCH evidence and the show has revelled in seeming to set up some things (mostly things we'd call fan service in fact) and then swerving away from them. It's almost part of the fabric of the show's story-telling.

So, there's still a very good chance that if the dead do rise from Winterfell, they will simply be bad, evil ones who want to kill and have no memories of being who they once were. Because the show is definitely a big believer in the "absolutely f*ck you all" element of death and mortality, as we've learned several times over.

And watching literally all of the vulnerable Winterfell characters - the women, the children, Sam, little Sam, Gilly, Tyrion, Varys, Sansa... - all being terrorised and mostly killed without defence would be incredibly on-brand.
