The season finale mainly deals with the initial reaction to Ned Starks beheading at the end of the previous episode, but takes its name from the final scene, which finally gives some well needed progress to the Chekhovs gun of Daenerys dragon eggs. Fire and Blood is the motto of the House Targaryen, of which Dany belongs. Its use in this episode may also have underlying meaning however, referring to the blood magic which ultimately kills Danys husband Drogo, and the subsequent pyre which his body is burned on. This flaming pyre is then entered by Dany, holding her dragon eggs, which causes them to hatch, and Dany to be reborn as the mother of dragons.
