Game Of Thrones Theories: 13 Epic Season 6 Moments Still To Come

It might only have two episodes left, but there's lots to come...

Who would ever have guessed that the first season of Game Of Thrones to deviate from George RR Martin's books would end up being the most entertaining and arguably the best written so far? The pace and purpose may feel a little alien to the rest of the measured show, but the decisions and the dramatic moments have been stunningly affecting and it is now hurtling towards a mouth-watering finale.

Even with only two episodes remaining, there promises to be some huge moments before season 6 draws its last breaths. In that time, we'll see numerous deaths (there are two battles raging right now), major power shifts and further steps taken towards the Great War for Westeros between the living and the dead. We'll (hopefully) see tyrants fall, homes restored and families reunited, but each happy flash promises to be balanced by gut-wrenching shots of tragedy and pain.

But then, isn't that why we're all so engrossed?

So even as the chill of the extra-seasonal period approaches, there is more than enough left to get excited about in The Battle Of The Bastards and The Winds Of Winter. Here are the major theories and inevitabilities laid out and analysed...

13. Cersei Burns The Sparrows

Game of Thrones Qyburn Cersei

Thanks to a whisper from her closest advisor, Cersei is now armed with information likely to help her escape the clutches of the High Sparrow and his over-zealous attempts to get her to atone further for her crimes. The best theory explaining that professed "rumour" is that she now knows of a stock of Wildfire under the city and will use it to purge the city of her enemies.

Could that mean also killing her son? Probably not, so a city wide purge might be too much to expect, but this might well be the first step in Cersei going full unhinged and becoming the Mad Queen.

Likelihood: 6/10

Personally, I think it's more likely Cersei will simply burn the Great Sept and rid Westeros of the Faith Militant and the Sparrows, but either way, those images of the Wildfire from Bran's vision seem harrowingly pertinent.

Cersei needs a plan, and it has to be big enough to free her from her trial and permanently get rid of her enemies in one fell swoop: burning them all would seem a fairly efficient method. And it would mean (presumably) that Tommen and Margaery could be kept away (though Loras seems doomed, which may drive a bigger wedge between the Lannisters and the Tyrells).
