Game Of Thrones Theories: 6 Reasons To Get Hype For CleganeBowl
4. Ser Robert Strong
Qyburn tells Cersei that he has a champion in mind for her, one who "will protect your son, kill your enemies, and keep your secrets, and no living man will be able to withstand him." Cersei comments that no man could possibly be strong enough to fight in the armour Qyburn has had her order for him. After her Walk of Shame, we get to meet Ser Robert Strong. He's a monster of a man, towering over everyone, with the visor on his helm remaining closed. He has conveniently taken a vow of silence, and is never seen to eat, drink, or even use the privy. It's fairly clear that this is the reanimated corpse of Gregor Clegane, especially given the trust placed in him by Cersei, and the fact that Qyburn had been experimenting on the body already. Although Doran Martell confirmed Dorne had received the Mountain's head, this could have been disguised, while there is also the possibility that (in the books) Robert Strong doesn't actually possess a head. We know that Qyburn has long dabbled in dark magic and necromancy, losing his Maester's chain for unethical experiments on humans, and it appears as though that's not only been the case here, but he's also been successful in his efforts.
NCTJ-qualified journalist. Most definitely not a racing driver. Drink too much tea; eat too much peanut butter; watch too much TV. Sadly only the latter paying off so far.
A mix of wise-old man in a young man's body with a child-like wonder about him and a great otherworldly sensibility.
