9. Robb's Will
The last Stark to hold the position of King in the North was Robb, the Young Wolf, before the whole Red Wedding business happened. Towards the end of his reign, things weren't exactly looking great for House Stark, even as he continued to win battles during the War of the Five Kings. With the war escalating, Robb unsurprisingly thought about who could replace him if he were to die. Against Catelyn's wishes, he announced that he would legitimise Jon, his bastard half brother, and name him heir to Winterfell and the North. Of course, Robb never actually has to chance to put this to Jon in person, but he does write it down. Or rather, he writes a will, in the presence of a number of key Northern lords who also sign a declaration as being witness to it. It's extremely likely that this will does indeed legitimise Jon Snow, and declare him as Robb's true heir. This is witnessed by his mother, Greatjon Umber, Jason Mallister, Raynald Westerling, Greatjon Umber, Edmure Tully, Galbart Glover, and Maege Mormont. This means that key members of important Northern houses all know about the existence of the will, at the very least, if not its contents or whereabouts. Robb sent Glover and Mormont North with fake documents, incase they were captured, so it remains unclear exactly where the will is. What is clear is that the lords know about it, and it seems they plan on acting on it, though they've happily been biding their time.
