Game Of Thrones: 10 Actors' Past Roles Which Ruin Their Character

6. Aidan Gillen

BaelishGoT Role: Lord Petyr Baelish (Littlefinger) Past Role: Rathbone - Shanghai Knights Lord Petyr Baelish wields a lot of power in the Game of Thrones universe due to his vast spy network and a talent for keeping the right people happy. He and Lord Varys are the go-to people in the kingdom if you are looking for information and as Game of Thrones relies heavily on political intrigue, this makes them indispensable. Aidan Gillen plays Littlefinger with the right combination of smugness and menace and his character has had his share of memorable moments throughout the series. Far from the betrayals and treachery of Westeros we find ourselves in the riveting world of Shanghai Knights. Here Jackie Chan seeks vengeance for the murder of his father at the hands of Rathbone (Gillen) and until he gets his revenge he will kung-fu everything in his way. All in it's all a typical martial arts comedy set mostly in jolly old London. What isn't expected for Thrones fans is the performance we get from Aidan Gillen as a swashbuckling villain. Not only this but he can very nearly outmatch the one and only Jackie Chan in a fight, with the only reason Chan's character wins being that Rathbone pretty much lets him. This pantomime performance is a far cry from Petyr Baelish's tactful approach but imagine the power he would have with his cunning plus Rathbone's fighting ability. A scary thought indeed.
