Game Of Thrones: 10 Awesome Things We Are All Waiting To See Happen

1. The Rebirth Of Azor Ahai

This is it folks. This is the big one. The prophecy of Azor Ahai and his true identity has been the most hotly debated and intensely predicted issue still facing Martin's epic series. My take? I'm in the Jon Snow camp. There are many reasons why I feel this way but first, for any uninitiated, let's get the prophecy out of the way. Azor Ahai was a warrior who stood against the darkness and the evil of the others thousands upon thousands of years ago. He is the reason Westeros exists as those who currently live, know it. Wielding his sword, Lightbringer, he defeated the others during the period of darkness known as the Long Night. It is said that Azor Ahai will be reborn again to challenge the others. This will all happen when a long, cold winter follows a long summer. He will stand against the evil army once again with the fate of the world resting on his victory. The warriors name is increasingly dropped with each passing book and a quick look at how events are unfolding lead us down the path of an Azor Ahai resurrection. For me, the most likely candidate is Jon Snow. Azor Ahai is said to be the combination of ice and fire and if you look closely, this is exactly what Jon Snow is. First, I don't for a second believe Ned Stark was ever unfaithful to Catelyn. Jon Snow is not Ned's bastard but his nephew. We all know that Ned's sister was in love with Rhaegar Targaryen and I believe she had recently given birth to Rhaegar's son before dying herself. Her final words to Ned were, "Ned, promise me." This was her asking to take and protect her son from all who would wish to see him, the heir to the iron throne, dead. This put Ned in a difficult position with his best friend seeking the throne for himself, and thus Ned's bastard story was born. The most honorable man in Westeros truly was the most honorable man in Westeros. What does this mean? That Jon Snow is the son of a Targaryen father and a Stark mother. He is of the dragons and the first men of the north. Now, there's more to this because some of you might be saying, "wait, Jon got stabbed a bunch of times and is presumably dead as of the last we've seen of him." Yes, that happened but why did he lock Ghost up? To keep him from harm's way. He knew what was to come and Jon Snow needed to die in order to fulfill is oath to the Night's Watch and allow his "rebirth" as Azor Ahai. What do you guys think? Am I wrong? I sure hope not because that's some awesome stuff heading our way if I'm right. Let us know in the comments and until next time, get writing George!

I'm married and live in New York with my wife and pets. I'm a writer and definitely not a comedian (just ask my wife). I've successfully linked my twitter, goodreads, facebook and google+ pages although the successful aspect of all that is up for debate. I also started my own blog on wordpress and have just finished my first novel, The Violent Winds. Now it's time to try and trick some unsuspecting fool into buying it.
