Game Of Thrones: 10 Book Characters Who Are Far Better On-Screen

7. Osha

Osha's case is one where the portrayal in the books and the show are almost completely different from each other. In the books, she is much older and more masculine, whereas in the show she is played by Natalia Tena as a young and more feisty wildling. The differences between the two lies mostly with the attitude and behavior Natalia brings to the character €“ while in the books she comes off as more like a mentor or grandmother type figure, in the show she is more savage and animalistic. That's not to say that book Osha doesn't have these qualities as well, but the show has the advantage of being able to visualize her movements and mannerisms, adding qualities to the character that weren't there on the page. Another dimension Natalia Tena brings to Osha is her love for Bran and Rickon. Again, while certainly an aspect of the character in the books, her performance brings it alive and to the forefront. Her saying goodbye to Bran in season three was one of the saddest moments on the show, and that is saying a lot. This is a case where the actor truly shines in bringing the character to the screen. In fact, Natalia Tena's portrayal of Osha is so good that even George R.R. Martin himself has said he prefers the show's version to his own. You don't get much higher praise than that.
