9. Rodrik Cassel
With the old castellan of Winterfell, I'm venturing more into deaths that had more of an emotional impact on me as a viewer. Rodrik in particular was a sad death after several episodes of becoming a more prominent character, looking after Bran and Rickon, becoming a protective, almost father-like figure to the boys. This made it even more devastating when Theon hacked his head off, with the emphasis on hacking. Poor Rodrik deserved better than a botched execution from the turn cloak, a scene made even worse by the anguish it causes to Bran and Rickon. And who could forget his final words to the boys, 'Don't worry child, I'm off to see your father.' This was definitely one of the series' more emotional deaths, especially after Theon made such a mess of it.
