7. Maester Luwin
Like poor old Ser Rodrik, Maester Luwin's death was sad on its own, but was made even worse by the devastation it caused to Bran and Rickon. The kind, sad old man never faltered in his duty to the Starks or to Winterfell, looking after the boys and the castle after Robb went to war, even trying to assist Theon when he styled himself the lord following his invasion. He was inherently good right up to the moment he was murdered in cold blood by Dagmer Cleftjaw and the rest of the ironmen. Perhaps this is what made his death even more heart-breaking and tragic, he was a harmless old man that actually tried to help Theon, but the ironmen saw him as a loose end that needed tying off. Luwin's death was definitely an emotional end to the second season and certainly one of the more emotional kill-offs of the series for me.
