Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Breaker Of Chains"

9. Jaime Went Too Far

After Tywin and Tommen leave, Jaime instructs everyone else in the chamber to leave. The two of them finally alone, Cersei tells Jaime that Tyrion killed Joffrey. Jaime still has doubts, but Cersei insists that Jaime avenge his son (remember, all of Cersei€™s children are from Jaime) by killing Tyrion. Jaime says they should wait for the trial, but Cersei wants Tyrion dead so that he can€™t escape punishment. Attempting to comfort her, the two start kissing, but Cersei pulls away before they go farther. Declaring her a hateful woman, Jaime pulls Cersei to the floor and rapes her next to their son€™s corpse. This was the moment that everyone was talking about afterwards, mostly due to its difference from the book scene. In A Storm of Swords, Cersei does protest when Jaime advances on her, but only because she€™s afraid of getting caught. Director Alex Graves has said that the sex eventually became consensual, but it looked anything but when we saw it happen. The series completely changed the dynamic and made it so Cersei was clearly an unwilling participant, and it resulted in one of the most disturbing scenes the show has ever produced. It had appeared that Jaime was seeking redemption and trying to become a better person, but this scene has wiped away almost all of his progress. He€™s officially back to being a villain, and it€™s doubtful he€™ll ever be fully redeemed from this spectacle, both in Cersei€™s eyes and the viewers. Oh well, what€™s Game of Thrones without more bad people, right?
