Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Mockingbird"

1. Petyr Makes Lysa Fly

Taking advantage of the winter weather, Sansa makes a snow recreation of Winterfell. Lysa€™s son Robin notices her creation, and they talk about Sansa€™s former home. Robin comments on Winterfell€™s lack of a moon door and tries to add one to Sansa€™s snow sculpture, but knocks over one of the towers. Sansa, understandably upset, says that he ruined it, but Robin doesn€™t see it that way and starts to throw a temper tantrum by kicking the sculpture. Sansa slaps him and he runs off crying. Petyr, who€™s been watching in the background, tells Sansa that Lysa should have disciplined him along time ago by hitting him. After briefly talking about Winterfell and demolishing the old home to build a better one, Sansa asks Petyr why he really killed Joffrey. He says that he loved her mother very much, and Joffrey€™s murder was primarily revenge for her death. Saying that she€™s more beautiful than her mother, Petyr kisses Sansa (dude, boundaries), although neither are aware Lysa is spying on them. Lysa laters confronts Sansa in the moon door room. At first, Sansa believes Lysa is upset because Robin got hit, but it soon becomes clear that she saw the kiss when her aunt calls her a whore and holds her down in front of the moon door. Lysa exclaims how everyone who€™s stood between her and Petyr is now dead, but before she can take any action, Petyr calls for her to stop. He manages to talk her into letting Sansa go, promising that he€™ll send her away so he and Lysa can be together. Lysa relents, and she and Petyr embrace as Sansa moves away from the door. Petyr tells Lysa that he€™s only loved one woman his whole life. Smiling, she expects to hear her name, but he simply states, €œYour sister,€ and pushes her through the moon door. While the murder was unexpected in the moment, in hindsight it makes sense. There are two things we know for sure Petyr loves: power and Catelyn Stark. He€™s slowly attained more power throughout the seasons, and Lysa has played an important part in his plans. He convinced her to kill her husband Jon Arryn, which was what started most of the political trouble in Westeros. Despite marrying her, he€™s never seen her as more than a means to an end, which is why he was able to kill her with such ease. She may be Catelyn€™s sister, but she never meant anything to him romantically. Sansa, on the other hand, he truly cares for, although that doesn€™t change the fact that the kiss was super creepy. Whether he truly loves her or is just manipulating her is unclear, but one thing is certain: Petyr has Sansa right where he wants her, and he€™ll use her to his advantage however he sees fit.
