Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From "Oathkeeper"

7. Jaime Sends Brienne To Find Sansa

Cersei brought up a good point: Jaime did swear a vow to keep Catelyn Stark€™s daughters safe. Unfortunately, Jaime can no longer fulfil that vow on his own, but he knows someone who can. Meeting with Brienne the next morning, he gives her the Valyrian steel sword his father gave him that had been forged from Ned Stark€™s sword. With Catelyn dead and Arya likely dead too (even though we know she€™s hanging out with The Hound), Jaime knows there€™s still a chance to find Sansa and asks Brienne to go find her. She agrees to, both for Catelyn and Jaime. Along with a new suit of armour, Jaime gives Brienne her own squire: Podrick. As you remember, last episode Tyrion told Podrick to get out of King€™s Landing after he refused to testify that Tyrion killed Joffrey. He€™ll be safe traveling with Brienne, and he€™s good at his job, so he€™ll serve her well. Before they bid farewell, Jaime asks what she€™s named her new sword. Brienne replies €œOathkeeper€ (hey, that€™s the show title!). Saying goodbye to the woman who saved his life, Jaime watches as Brienne and Podrick leave King€™s Landing to search for Sansa. Jaime and Brienne€™s relationship has always been interesting. While they hated each other at first, during their adventures last season, they grew to respect one another and saved the other from getting killed once or twice. Jaime could also depend on Brienne to tell him the truth rather than what he wanted to hear. It€™s not clear whether they had feelings for each other, but romance aside, their platonic relationship was always fascinating to watch. To see the duo separate is sad, but it also opens up new directions for Brienne to explore, especially with her new sidekick. However, finding Sansa may be more difficult than she realises.
