Game Of Thrones: 10 Things We Learned From “Two Swords”
8. Joffrey Doesnt Think Much Of Jamie
His father is disappointed in him, his sister/lover is angry with him, and now his nephew has piled onto the make Jaime feel like crap train. While detailing the new security plans for Joffreys upcoming wedding, Joffrey chastises Jaime for getting captured and his absence in the Battle of Blackwater. Skimming through the Book of Brothers (which tells the great deeds of the knights of the Kingsguard), Joffrey notices that Jaimes page is sparse. Jaime replies that theres still time to add more deeds, at which point Joffrey questions Jaimes efficiency as a 40-year old knight with only one hand. Its not out of the ordinary for Joffrey to insult someone, but despite our hatred for him, he does bring up a good point. Jaime may still be talented, but hes not the same man he was when he left Kings Landing. Hes getting older, hes lost a hand and hes actually listening to his conscience more (though the process is slow). Hes never going to be as talented a swordsman, but perhaps hes becoming something better.
