Game Of Thrones: 12 New Characters Set For Season 5

11. Obara Sand

As we learned in Season 4, bastards in Dorne do not exactly carry the same stigma as in the other six of the Seven Kingdoms, and bearing the surname Sand is significantly less detrimental to your societal standing than being a Snow in the North or a Waters in King's Landing. Now, as might be expected of a man with such a famously insatiable sexual appetite, Prince Oberyn spawned a handful of Sands himself. In fact, by the time of his death, the Red Viper managed to father eight daughters, known in Dorne as the Sand Snakes. The eldest of these Sand Snakes is Obara, born long ago of her father's union with a prostitute. Like Oberyn, Obara possesses a fiery temper and a thirst for vengeance. When the news arrives of his gruesome death at the hands of the Mountain, the she-warrior will almost certainly push for a Dornish military response. As Oberyn technically died in a lawful trial-by-combat for which he volunteered, it will fall to Prince Doran to try to restrain his niece's violent impulses. As the fourth season winds down and established characters scatter further and further around the world, it is likely that newcomer Obara will run into one of our more familiar faces as she tries to rally support for her cause; depending on the loyalties of that particular familiar face, it may not be the friendliest of meetings.
