Game Of Thrones: 15 Biggest ‘Holy Sh*t!’ Moments So Far
15. Jaime Lannister, In The Tower, With His Sister In the first episode of Game of Thrones, Bran Stark is a pretty lucky kid. Sure, he has to watch the occasional beheading and deal with the pomp and circumstance of a royal visit, but he also gets a direwolf puppy and archery lessons and has the gravity-defying ability to climb the walls of his family's massive castle. His luck turns, however, when he climbs an abandoned tower and discovers the supposedly celibate Ser Jaime Lannister having a bit of a tryst with the queen...who happens to be his twin sister. Holy sh*t, right? Not just yet. While Bran clearly doesn't understand what he is seeing, he panics and nearly loses his grip when Cersei spots him. For her part, Cersei panics as well, and only Jaime has his wits about him to grab the boy before he can fall. He says a few calming words, and those of us who hadn't read the books had just enough time to think that (sister-nailing aside) maybe this guy wasn't so bad. Then, when he learns that Bran is in fact old enough to report what exactly it was that he saw, Jaime just goes ahead and shoves Bran right back out the window. "The things I do for love," he says casually, and he saunters back to his sister as Bran falls to his (presumed) death.
14. Summer Saves The Day
After Bran manages to not die from his fall, Catelyn refuses to leave his side as she waits for him to wake. Even as most of her family--save for Robb and Rickon--departs South, Catelyn will not leave Bran. When a fire in an adjacent tower draws everybody else away from Bran's sickroom, a filthy man appears. "You weren't supposed to be here," says the man, who draws a knife and looks at Bran. Catelyn launches herself at the man and shoves the Valyrian steel blade away with her bare hands. Despite a great struggle, however, Catelyn is overpowered. Just as the assassin bends over Bran, his direwolf (the as-yet-to-be-named Summer) leaps out of nowhere and rips the man apart, ravaging his body and tearing out his throat.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
