Game Of Thrones: 15 Biggest ‘Holy Sh*t!’ Moments So Far
13. Viserys' Golden Crown
While in a sacred Dothraki city in which no weapons are to be carried and no blood is to be shed, Viserys Targaryen drunkenly stumbles into a feast. Confident that the Dothraki customs will protect him from harm, he brandishes a sword and seizes the pregnant Daenerys, threatening to reclaim his sister--and cut the baby from her womb--if Khal Drogo does not deliver the promised army and a golden crown. Drogo appears to agree to the terms, but after a moment, Viserys is seized by the khal's men, who break his arms and put him on his knees. "Crown for king," says Drogo, and he pours a vat of molten gold over Viserys' head.
12. Ned Loses His Head
When the political maneuvering and backstabbing of King's Landing prove too much for the steadfast Ned Stark, he is forced to choose between dying with honor or bargaining with his enemies to save his daughter. Ultimately deciding to protect Sansa, Ned falsely confesses to treason. According to the Lannister plot, King Joffrey would then pardon Ned and send him to the Wall to live out his life in disgrace, thus preventing Robb from marching on the South. All things considered, it's not a bad plan. Unfortunately, Joffrey goes off script. "Bring me his head," says the king. Sansa screams, Cersei tries to reason with Joffrey, and Varys rushes to intercede, but the King's Justice carries out Joffrey's orders and beheads the protagonist with his own sword.
Fiction buff and writer. If it's on Netflix, it's probably in my queue. I've bought DVDs for the special features and usually claim that the book is better than the movie or show (and can provide examples). I've never met a TV show that I won't marathon. Follow on Twitter @lah9891 .
