Game Of Thrones: 20 Most Paused Moments

10. Talisa Strips Off (Season 2, Episode 8)

This is in a sense the very scene that sealed Robb Stark's fate forever more, as he confesses to Lady Talisa that he does not want to marry one of Lord Walder Frey's daughters, but instead wishes to be with her. The rather demure-looking Talisa strips off and completely shatters audience pre-conceptions of her as she has passionate sex with Robb, effectively also ensuring her own grim future at the same time. The scene received further attention because of who was playing Talisa: Oona Chaplin, the granddaughter of Charlie Chaplin. To some, the reaction was: what would Charlie make of this? And to others, it's merely further credit to the legend that his granddaughter turned out so ridiculously good looking. As for the consequences of this hook up? We'll get to that in a little bit...

9. Blackwater Explosion (Season 2, Episode 9)

Every aspect of Game of Thrones' production is first-rate, and totally on par with what you would see in a high-budget movie, be it the costume design, set dressing, or as demonstrated most impressively in the famous Blackwater episode, the visual effects. The Neil Marshall-directed episode depicts the Battle of the Blackwater, as the Lannister army takes on Stannis Baratheon's fleet at Blackwater Bay, leading to a brilliantly explosive set-piece, as an unmanned boat leaking wildfire heads to Stannis' ships. Bronn fires a flaming arrow at the lone boat, causing a monstrous explosion which destroys large numbers of Stannis' men, and gives the show its most visually awesome moment yet: a giant green fireball that's easily the most ambitious and impressive shot so far in the series.
