Game Of Thrones: 5 Winners & 5 Losers In 'Breaker Of Chains'

2. Raping Your Sister (Next To Your Son's Corpse)

Basic ethics is the loser here. As if incest wasn€™t enough of a taboo, Game of Thrones pulls out all the stops this week to give us incest, rape, and borderline necrophilia, all within the one controversial scene! You have to feel for the guys whose job it is to deal with all the complaint mail at HBO. I€™m guessing it isn€™t the executives. Controversy of a thematic nature sure does rake in the viewers though. It is a key hook of many successful shows, and Game of Thrones is no exception, but this latest example really does push that line well and truly beyond the boundaries of comfortable entertainment. King Joffrey is a fresh corpse, lying in funeral dress atop the altar in the Sept of Baelor. Cersei is standing in grief for her departed son. When Jaime enters the scene and the room is cleared, they are left to grieve together. Whatever your opinion of their incestuous relationship, it is an intimate moment where they can lament and acknowledge in private that Joffrey is their shared offspring. Unfortunately, Jaime then turns a tender moment dark by forcing himself upon his sister and having his way with her in sight of their son€™s cold body. No means no, Jaime! If you find yourself shifting awkwardly in your seat, it only means that you€™re a morally conscious human being. Whatever you do, avoid watching this episode with your parents!
