Game Of Thrones: 5 Winners And 5 Losers In 'The Laws Of Gods And Men'
3. Yara Greyjoy
Its been a while since weve seen anything of the Iron Islanders apart from Theon, and the last time we left them, Yara Greyjoy was setting sail with a strong company of men to rescue her brother from the clutches of the Bastard of Bolton, Ramsay Snow. We finally return to that storyline after half a season's absence, and as it turns out, the whole mission ends up being a total failure.
Yara and her men sneak and kill their way into Ramsays kennels, where Theon is being kept, but the family reunion is not what she expected. Theon has become Ramsays pet, Reek, and all but sounds the alarm when Yara tries to free him from his cage. Theon is so far gone that he truly fears (and loves) Ramsay more than he believes in the efforts of his sister, and rightly so, because when Ramsay and his men show up at the door, the Iron Islanders are beaten in combat and then scared off by Ramsays hounds; so much for that fearlessness and combat prowess that they keep on bragging about. Yara returns to her ship with her tail between her legs, sulking that her mission has failed and declaring her brother dead.
After the motivational montage that built up the prospect of this storyline at the end of last season, what we are treated to after such a long gap falls entirely short of expectations. The futility of Yaras mission makes us wonder why they included this brief and pointless storyline at all, as it is not adapted from the source material.
