Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From 'The Lion And The Rose'
4. "The War Of The Five Kings"
Just when you think Joffrey cant be more despicable, he goes and orchestrates a piece of entertainment in such bad taste that even his own supporters are disgusted. As the reception events continue, Joffrey calls for everyones attention. After making a comment about not forgetting history, he introduces a play mockingly recreating the events of the War of the Five Kings as portrayed by dwarfs. Everyone proceeds to look on in horror as very recent and tragic events are played for laughs. This farce of a play is insulting for multiple reasons. Not only does it make light of a war that killed thousands of people, but it works as intentional insult to multiple people at the wedding. Renly is portrayed riding Loras Tyrell, who has to sit there as his sexuality and the death of someone he loved is mocked and ridiculed. All the Tyrells are clearly disgusted but are forced to feign praise, and some of whiom cant even do that. Poor Sansa, who admitted to her inability to stop thinking about the horrible ways in which her mother and brother died, is forced to watch it recreated in front of her. Even the use of dwarfs is an intentional insult towards Tyrion, giving Joffrey the perfect opening to further humiliate him. With all that said, it is the perfect final act for Joffrey before his demise. It summarises that way he views the world and the conflict that has engulfed it due to his actions. Hes a child; a sociopathic child with no concept of consequence and way too much power handed to him on a golden platter. This final repugnant act cements him as one of the most reprehensible fictional characters ever created.
