Game Of Thrones: 7 Best Moments From 'The Lion And The Rose'
2. Ramsay Shows Off His Reek
This episode gives us our first good look at the Dreadfort, home of House Bolton. Roose Bolton has returned from the south with his new bride Fat Walda, and Ramsay is there to greet him. Roose asks his bastard to show him Theon, now named Reek, and when he does Roose is not pleased. Ramsays reckless treatment of the Greyjoy prince is a detriment to securing the North from the Ironborn. To show his father just how loyal his new pet is, Ramsay orders Theon to shave his face as he reveals the fate of Robb Stark. This scene is great because it gives us insight into the Bolton family and the dynamic between Roose and Ramsay. Unlike Ned Stark, Roose treats his bastard with cold malice, always undermining him and reminding him of his bastardry. We also get to see just how far gone Theon is. He has been completely conditioned to obey Ramsay out of fear, so much so that given the opportunity and emotional fuel, he will not harm him. It is incredibly pathetic and sad. The scene ends with Ramsay and Theon being sent to Moat Cailin to relieve it of Ironborn while Locke is sent out to deal with Jon Snow, Bran and Rickon, as they are threats to their recent claim to the North. This is a plot point not from the books, and with Theons sister Yara heading to the Dreadfort to save him, it is a genuine mystery where this is all going. Its off to an interesting start so far.
