Game Of Thrones Season 4: 5 Spoiler-iffic Scenes We Can’t Wait to See

1. The Death Of Joffrey Baratheon

Jack Gleeson could not have asked for a better role. Joffrey Baratheon is a much-hated character €“ but not because of the Wesley Crusher-type content. No €“ he is a sadistic, evil character who is a perfect villain. Take Darth Vader for example €“ people liked Darth Vader because he was cool, despite him being evil. But Joffrey isn't likeable enough to be cool. He is a pure villain. And in season four, we get to see him killed, a death that sets a chain of events in motion that results in the deaths of Tywin, Shay, Gregore Clegane and the death of Oberyn Martell that leads to the Martell family seeking to bring Daenerys Targaryen to Westeros. Joffrey Baratheon marries Margaery Tyrell as planned. Then shortly after he is poisoned and dies an agonising death whilst clawing at his own throat. Tyrion Lannister is blamed for the murder and following Shays and Varys testimonies, he requests a trial by combat. The thing is €“ it wasn't Tyrion or any other Lannister for that matter. Tywin simply uses Joffrey's death to seek to eliminate his son as well. It was Littlefinger who does the deed, before grabbing Sansa Stark and running off to the Eyrie. Heck, we might even see Littlefinger kill Lysa Arryn this season too if Joffrey's death is early enough in the running order. Look, I did warn you non-book people about spoilers, didn't I? Of course the Tyrells are in on it, and afterwards Tommen Baratheon becomes King with Cersei acting as Regent. Margaery quick marries Tommen too, becoming Queen once more but with Cersei seeking to eliminate her. The death of Joffrey is going to be celebrated by fanboys and girls as final payback for the death of Ned Stark at the end of the first season. As a character he has utterly no redeeming qualities and it'll probably be seen as more expected than the death of Tywin. If I was the writers, I would end the first episode of the new season with the death of Joffrey €“ it'll get people talking, that's for sure.
