2. The Betrayal (And Death) Of Shay, Followed By The Death of Tywin Lannister
Tyrion Lannister is having a very bad day. First he gets accused of a murder that he didn't commit, and then he chooses trial by combat and loses after a number of witnesses step forward to say that he did do it including his lover Shay and Varys, aka "The Spider". Then his brother Jaime admits that his first love wasn't in fact a prostitute and that story was entirely made up by Tywin. In a fit of rage, Tyrion swears revenge on the Lannister family. Tyrion is a resourceful man. With the help of Varys, he manages to break out of prison prior to his execution and uses a secret passage that cuts through Tywin's bed chambers. There he finds Shay, naked and in Tywin's bed. In a fit of rage he strangles her to death for her double betrayal first of him at the trial and then by bedding his father. So, after strangling Shay to death, the Imp sets about tracking down an implement with which to kill his father. He comes across a crossbow fairly quickly and confronts Tywin, who is sitting on the toilet. The two argue, with Tyrion seeking revenge for all the treatment he has received from his father over the years and the most recent being the complete set-up to execute him for a murder that he had nothing to do with. What Tyrion doesn't know is that Tywin by this point will have already had a discussion with Jaime in which Tywin said that he doesn't consider him to be his heir anymore as Jaime refuses to leave the Kingsguard. This means that Tyrion is now technically the heir to Casterly Rock. As Tywin continues to sit on the toilet, Tyrion shoots him through the bowels with the crossbow. It is probably the worst case of IBS that we will ever seen on television. Tyrion remarks that it proves that Tywin didn't defecate gold after all. Given the involvement of the Iron Bank should come following Tywin's death, expect this all to happen somewhere around the fourth to fifth episode of the season.
