Game Of Thrones: Season 4 'Death Watch' (Loss And Change In Two Swords)

11. Death Of The Week

Surprisingly lax for the average episode of Game Of Thrones. If it wasn't for the last five minutes, the main contender would have been the poor sheep who fell victim to Daenerys Targaryen's dragons. But then we got the traditional, bloody brawl; Arya and The Hound versus Polliver and The King's Men. Arya regaining Needle and using it to drive through Polliver's neck was morbidly satisfying and easily the most significant death of the episode.

10. Hero Of The Week

Defender of the innocent, saviour of the put upon, the hero of the week was rather surprisingly...the Hound. Perhaps Ayra's innocence is wearing of on him, though judging by her actions, that's disappearing fast. Or maybe it's just because of how smug Polliver was. Whatever the reason, with the poor barkeep being taken for all he had and his daughter about to be raped, the Hound soon stepped in and dealt with the king's men once and for all. Or maybe he just really wanted those chickens.

9. Villain Of The Week

A couple of choices this week. First up, not surprisingly, we have King Joffrey, this time mocking his uncle-father Jaime Lannister "someone forgot to write down all your great deeds". But the real villain had to be Polliver; a smug, murdering rapist who had some rather unsavoury designs on young Arya. Any man who follows the Mountain with glee is bad in our books but he soon got his comeuppance.

8. Most Shocking Moment Of The Week

The introduction of the Red Viper Oberyn Martell right? Well actually, despite his confident entrance in the Lannister brothel, he was outdone by someone even more dangerous. Enter the terrifying Styr, the Magnar of Thenn; a wildling cannibal. You knew what was in the sack as soon as he talked about all the plump, fat food south of The Wall, but seeing that arm on a spit sealed his status once and for all. I wouldn't like to be at Castle Black now...

7. New Credit Locale Of The Week

Two new locations for season four! First up we had the Dreadfort (though it didn't appear during the episode). Nice evocative flailed skin on the logo. It's no wonder Ramsay is the way he is. Second up we had Mereen, glimpsed in the distance during season's three credits but now seen in all its glory. Click Next for some more highlights...
